College Component - GCCIS

Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences

The GCCIS Honors Program builds on the Institute Honors program by adding additional academic enrichment and community building opportunities in the computing and information sciences arenas. Students and faculty in the GCCIS Honors program believe that these activities not only improve the student experience here at RIT, but also create long-lasting bonds both among the students and between the students and the faculty.

College Honors Activities

Students self-elect to take part in some or all of a wide variety of activities. These activities include attending colloquia featuring speakers from industry, attending college-wide or department-specifc discussion seminars focusing on topics from the tech news of the day, out-of-town trips for company visits and cammaraderie building, and others.

Students also have access to a computer lab/lounge area just for GCCIS honors students, an account on the GCCIS honors server, special access to faculty for research projects, and access to research stipends.

Details regarding each of these activities and information on how to take part in them is available in the GCCIS Honors Community in MyCourses.

GCCIS Student Honors Committee

The GCCIS Honors Committee is responisble for decisions regarding the GCCIS Honors program. The committee is composed of student and faculty representatives from each department and the college at-large. All members of the committee, students and faculty, have an equal voice in the decision-making process. A list of current committee members and information regarding how you can get on the committee is available in the GCCIS Honors Community in MyCourses.
